Lifestyle Christianity: Cultivating a Life with Jesus at the Centre
The book of Deuteronomy is Moses’ final sermon to the people of God before they entered the promised land. He summarises their history and explains God’s laws to the people, including the consequences of obedience and disobedience. Within this sermon is a summary statement of doctrine called The Shema, which Jews would recite every morning and every night. It is also a text Jesus quoted as the most important command in the Old Testament. The Shema is a central text in the Old Testament and concerns building a life with God at its centre.
