Community

Pure and genuine religion in the sight of God the Father means caring for orphans and widows in their distress and refusing to let the world corrupt you.

James 1:27 (NLT)

Community outreach is an important part of our mission. Through our various projects, we aim to demonstrate the love of God to our local community. Within the life of Redeemer Church, there are a number of short-term and long-term projects going where we seek to make a positive contribution to the people of our community.

If you are keen to get involved in any of our community outreach programs, or would like to know more about what we are currently assisting with, please contact us on admin@redeemerchurch.mu.

Community Projects

Redeemer Church is actively involved in various community projects around the island. These range from building projects and food drives to helping out at children’s shelters.

When a project comes up, we call for any volunteers who would like to be involved. Most of our activities are open to children and adults alike, and a great time of fellowship is enjoyed while we sow into the local community.

If you’d like to be involved in a community project, please let us know so we can notify you when we next need volunteers.

Violet's Preschool Outreach

Part of our Reaching Out at Redeemer Church is sowing into a local preschool. Violet’s Preschool is located in Case Noyale, between Black River and Le Morne, with about 60 children from area villages. Each Thursday a team goes out to engage with the children, who range from ages 3 to 6, through activities like dance and movement, ball skills and sport, and arts and crafts.

The initiative began quite a few years ago and has had a wonderful response. We have had the privilege of seeing the fruits of our labours, including an increase in attention span and coordination.

The group consists of people from Redeemer and the Black River community who go through to the school on a regular basis, but we are always looking for more volunteers.

Bags of Hope

Bags of Hope is an outreach that makes and fills hand-made maternity bags for underprivileged and expectant mothers in the Black River area. Each bag is filled with various items that an expectant mother would need, such as clothing, blankets, nappies, wet wipes and toiletries.

If you would like to get involved with this outreach, donate any items for the bags, knit or crochet a blanket or hat, or make a financial contribution, please contact us.
