Join us for our Third 2025
Prayer Week
"And pray in the Spirit on all occasions with all kinds of prayers and requests. With this in mind, be alert and always keep on praying for all the Lord’s people.
Ephesians 6:18-19 (NIV)
Redeemer Church started 2024 with a theme of prayer, and we have continued with prioritising prayer in 2025. This theme runs like a thread through the history of the church, with the first gatherings of this community almost 20 years ago being devoted to prayer. It is also one of our church values – Praying with Faith. The aim of this prayer week, from the 23rd to the 30th of November, is to grow in our practice of prayer and thanksgiving. We want to develop better prayer habits in our personal devotion, and spend time thanking God for all he has done for us.
Prayer reminds us that we are dependent on God for everything. The act of prayer helps us to take advantage of the access we have to our Father in heaven. There are so many ways to pray – each one a gift from God. We can pray prayers of repentance, prayers of gratitude and worship, prayers for breakthrough and cries for help. Our hope is that this week, each one of us will learn a little more about prayer and will be inspired to keep growing in prayer long after the week is over.
If you have any prayer requests, or would like to know more about the prayer week, please send us an email at admin@redeemerchurch.mu.
Daily Prayer Devotionals
We are entering a week of prayer. Each day, we will share a testimony from someone in the Redeemer Church community along with a short devotional. The idea is to set ourselves apart for the week and to lift up our prayers and requests to God, with thanksgiving. Here are the testimonies for this week:
Day 1: God Finishes What He Starts
Our September began with excitement as our kids started university after a six-week holiday. But within the first week, our joy turned to fear when our daughter, Chamonique, developed what seemed like a simple cold that quickly worsened. By Saturday, she felt weak with pins and needles all over her body. A quick trip to the emergency room turned into a nightmare—within 24 hours, she lost the ability to walk and even sit properly.
As parents, watching your child suffer while you can do nothing is heartbreaking. Yet, even in that hospital room, we knew that God was still in control. Our Redeemer Church family and friends from around the world covered us in prayer and support, reminding us that we were not alone.
Tests ruled out serious conditions like MS and autoimmune diseases—praise God! After ten days, Chamonique was discharged in a wheelchair with a diagnosis of Transverse Myelitis, an inflammation of the spinal cord. Still, we saw God’s goodness as people came to pray, and the university supported her studies.
In just a month, she’s progressed from a wheelchair to crutches. We believe God never does half jobs — He will complete her healing. All glory to God Almighty!

Devotional:
God is faithful and he will complete the work he has started in our lives. Our confidence comes from his character and is supported by the evidence of what he has already done.
In all my prayers for all of you, I always pray with joy because of your partnership in the gospel from the first day until now, being confident of this, that he who began a good work in you will carry it on to completion until the day of Christ Jesus. – Philippians 1:4-6 (NIV)
Points for Prayer:
- Thank God for his faithfulness that will never fail.
- Thank God for the things he has already done for you.
- Consider the areas in your life where God is already working and ask him to finish his work completely.
Day 2: God Hears Your Cry
Before Christ, my life was driven by selfish ambition and the pursuit of worldly pleasures. I chased recognition, control, and every desire of the flesh, but nothing satisfied the emptiness within me. Each moment of pleasure was fleeting, and the more I sought fulfillment, the more lost and exhausted I became. I reached a point where I had nothing left — spiritually drained and at the end of myself.
In that place of darkness, with the little I knew about Jesus, I cried out for him to save me. It wasn’t a gradual change — He heard my cry and met me right there. At that moment, I encountered the living Christ who lifted me out of the pit and gave me new life.
Since that day, everything has changed. Jesus didn’t just fix parts of my life; He transformed my entire being. Now I live not for myself, but for Him who saved me. I know with certainty that Jesus is Lord — not just from words or teaching, but from the power I’ve experienced. To anyone searching, know this: His love is free, His grace is available, and when you ask, seek, and knock, He will answer.

Devotional:
All through the scriptures, we find God responding to the cry of those desperate for his help. He answered the cries of the Israelites when they were slaves in Egypt. He answered the cry of Jonah, who was sinking to the ocean floor. He answered the cry of Hannah, who was barren and longing for a child. And he will answer your cry, too.
From inside the fish Jonah prayed to the Lord his God. He said: “In my distress I called to the Lord, and he answered me. From deep in the realm of the dead I called for help, and you listened to my cry.” – Jonah 2:1-2 (NIV)
Points for Prayer:
- Thank God that he never sleeps – he always hears our cry.
- Thank God for the times your cried to him and he answered.
- Cry out to God for your deepest need and longings and trust him to hear your cry.
Day 3: God Provides for your needs

We want to give all glory and honour to God for the healing of our daughter’s bone tumor.
“So do not fear, for I am with you; do not be dismayed, for I am your God. I will strengthen you and help you; I will uphold you with my righteous right hand.” – Isaiah 41:10 NIV
What felt impossible for us was never impossible for Him. Through every doctor’s visit, every sleepless night, and every moment of fear, God was faithful. He not only healed her, but He also provided everything we needed along the way; strength, peace, wisdom, psychological support and even the financial needs we didn’t know how we would meet. We were able to go abroad, we had the best doctors and the surgery was successful.
When we didn’t know what to do, He put the right people on our way and we are so thankful for that. His grace met us daily, and His presence reminded us that we were never alone. Today, we stand with grateful hearts, giving thanks to the Lord for His mercy, His provision, and His miraculous healing. Our family has seen the goodness of God, and we will continue to praise Him for what He has done. All the glory to God!
~ Stephan & Paolina Appiah ~
Devotional:
Sometimes God heals a person miraculously in an instant. Sometimes God provides healing through the medical profession. And he also provides everything else we need along the way – finances, strength to get through the difficult nights, and the right surgeon for the procedure. As long as we are with God, we have everything we need.
You hem me in behind and before, and you lay your hand upon me. Such knowledge is too wonderful for me, too lofty for me to attain. – Psalm 139:5-6 (NIV)
Points for Prayer:
- Thank God that all the resources of heaven and earth belong to him and he distributes them by his grace.
- Thank God for his provision in your life.
- Pray for any needs you have that will depend on his provision.
Day 4: From Rock bottom to standing on The Rock.

My journey to freedom has been nothing short of God’s grace. Back in Zimbabwe, I lost my business, and around the same time my life was marked by deep addiction — cocaine, marijuana, ecstasy, alcohol, and cigarettes. Everything felt chaotic and hopeless, but Jesus met me right in the middle of my brokenness. He began restoring what I had destroyed, pulling me out of darkness step by step, and setting my feet on solid ground.
After losing the business in Zim, one thing after another made it clear that God was moving our family to Mauritius. But even here the journey wasn’t smooth. Shortly after arriving, I was fired from my job. Yet what felt like another blow became the doorway to God’s provision. Out of that moment, Ty’s Touch Ups was born — a business I never planned, never expected, and truly could never have built without His hand guiding every detail.
By the grace of God, I will be three years — 1,096 days — sober on February 5th, 2026. Today He has blessed me with a beautiful family, including our baby boy Elijah, and entrusted me with the privilege of serving others through addiction recovery ministry. My life and my business exist only because Jesus restores, provides, and transforms. All glory to Him.

Devotional:
God speicalises in impossible things. He is not limited by human constraints. He is not put off by past failures. He does not lack confidence and he does not waver in his will. God is able to take the worst situation and turn it into a something of beauty.
Jesus asked the boy’s father, “How long has he been like this?” “From childhood,” he answered. “It has often thrown him into fire or water to kill him. But if you can do anything, take pity on us and help us.” “ ‘If you can’?” said Jesus. “Everything is possible for one who believes.” Immediately the boy’s father exclaimed, “I do believe; help me overcome my unbelief!” – Mark 9:21-24 (NIV)
Points for Prayer:
- Thank God that nothing is impossible for him.
- Thank God for impossible things he has done in your life.
- Pray for any impossible situations you are facing right now.
Day 5: God Has A Plan
Eleven years ago, I was diagnosed with a rare autoimmune condition affecting my kidneys, known as Minimal Change Disease. Since then, I have been on chronic immunosuppressants to keep the disease under control, and thankfully, they have worked well. So when my doctor told me in January this year that he believed it was time to start weaning me off the medication, I was very apprehensive. And quite frankly, a little scared. Not knowing how my body would respond to a lower dosage, and the possibility of a relapse, really had me worried.
However, throughout my entire health journey, it has been clear that God is in control, even when I don’t always understand his plans. After about a month of building my courage and prayer, I followed my doctor’s advice and reduced the medication, and to date, have not had any relapse, despite the lower dosage.
Proverbs 3:5-6 says “Trust in the Lord with all your heart and lean not on your own understanding; in all your ways submit to him, and he will make your paths straight.” I cannot see the future, but I am incredibly comforted knowing God holds it. I know that he will continue to heal me, and I and am trusting that, one day, I will be able to come off the medication completely.
~ Candice Thompson ~
Devotional:
We love to know what the plan is because that gives us a sense of control. But God wants us to trust his plan for our lives even when we don’t know what that plan is. God is good and his plans for us are for our good.
For I know the plans I have for you,” declares the Lord, “plans to prosper you and not to harm you, plans to give you hope and a future. – Jeremiah 29:11 (NIV)
Points for Prayer:
- Thank God that his plans are perfect and that he is in perfect control.
- Thank God for the plans he has already led you into.
- Pray for God to help you let go of your own plans so that you can walk in his plans for your life.
Day 6: When God Speaks Things Happen

Last Sunday, during worship, the song “I Trust in God” moved me deeply. It reminded me of two precious girls — my daughter Faith and her close friend Angel. Angel has walked through incredibly difficult moments, travelling to Europe for two major surgeries to remove a tumor. Yet what stood out most was how our church family, even younger children, gathered earnestly to pray for her. Today, Angel is healthy, joyful, and full of life — a living reminder that God hears.
Faith’s story is also a testimony of God’s faithfulness. Years ago, Jonas and I sat in the gynaecologist’s office, waiting to hear our baby’s heartbeat. Instead, there was silence, and we were told the pregnancy needed to end. My heart broke, and I pleaded to wait for one more week. As we walked out, I said to Jonas, “If God gives us a girl, we will name her Faith.”
The very next day, we heard her heartbeat. God answered, and He gave us our daughter — our Faith — a constant reminder to trust Him. Like the centurion who said, “Just say the word,” God spoke His word over our daughter’s life. And for us, that word was Faith.
~ Ketcia Marie Jeanne ~
Devotional:
We don’t know the reasons why certain things happen in life. Some people face challenges that seem random or unfair. But every challenge we face is an opportunity to reach out to Jesus with faith. When God speaks into a situation, things change. He wants us to listen for his voice and trust him no matter what challenge we face.
The centurion replied, “Lord, I do not deserve to have you come under my roof. But just say the word, and my servant will be healed. – Matthew 8:8 (NIV)
Points for Prayer:
- Thank God for his Word that is so powerful.
- Thank God for the Words he has spoken into your life that have brought you hope.
- Pray for the ability to always hear God’s voice and to trust what he says.

want to know More about fasting
Prayer & Fasting Guide
We encourage you to fast alongside us this week by setting aside a day to pray and fast.
Fasting is a spiritual discipline that Christians have participated in for centuries. It is a subject Jesus spoke about, and the practice extends into Old Testament times. Like any spiritual discipline, fasting can become just another religious duty. But it can also be a powerful practice that draws us nearer to God. In fasting, we give up something important to us to show that we are dependent on God for everything.
We have prepared a guide to assist you with fasting. You can find a copy of the guide here.
