A few words

About Us

Redeemer Church is a non denominational Christian church with services in Black River on the West Coast, Petit Raffray in the North, and Mahebourg on the South Coast of Mauritius. It is in the idyllic setting of Tamarin Bay that a small group of ladies met to pray over fifteen years ago, hoping that one day a church would be planted in this region. Over the years this small group grew to become a home bible study and eventually a thriving community of faith.

The members of Redeemer Church come from diverse backgrounds and cultures including expats and students from Africa and Europe, as well as local Mauritians. This diversity has created an environment of love and acceptance as we have received the rich privilege of sharing one another’s culture and life experience. Everyone is welcome at Redeemer.

Our English-medium service is at 9:30 am on Sundays at our facility next to Vanilla Village in Black River. We start with a time of singing songs of worship followed by preaching from the Bible. The service usually lasts about an hour and is followed by tea and coffee as we enjoy getting to know one another better in an informal setting.

We also have English services twice a month at Domaine Ambra in Petit Raffray at 9:30 am, and a home-style meeting in Mahebourg every Sunday morning at 9:00 am.

There are a number of different ways you can get involved, which you can find as you browse through this site and connect with us on Facebook and Instagram.

We have relationships with other churches and leaders around the world including Red. Point Church in Durban, South Africa who have been partners with us since the very beginning.

Who
We Are

What We
Believe

Redeemer Church is orthodox in our beliefs and practice, meaning that we believe the Bible and seek as best we can to apply the scriptures to our daily lives and to the church as a whole.

Our Statement of Faith comes from the Apostle’s Creed.

Apostle's Creed:

I believe in God, the Father almighty, creator of heaven and earth.

I believe in Jesus Christ, his only Son, our Lord, who was conceived by the Holy Spirit, born of the Virgin Mary,
suffered under Pontius Pilate, was crucified, died, and was buried; he descended to the dead.
On the third day he rose again; he ascended into heaven, he is seated at the right hand of the Father,
and he will come again to judge the living and the dead.

I believe in the Holy Spirit, the holy universal Church, the communion of saints,
the forgiveness of sins, the resurrection of the body, and the life everlasting.
Amen.

The 8 Values of Redeemer Church

Making Disciples One Life at a Time

The vision of Redeemer Church, Making Disciples One Life at a Time, springs from the last instructions that Jesus gave his disciples before ascending into heaven. These words have become known as the Great Commission and they remain in place for the church as a priority until Jesus returns again.

Jesus came and told his disciples, “I have been given all authority in heaven and on earth. Therefore, go and make disciples of all the nations, baptizing them in the name of the Father and the Son and the Holy Spirit. Teach these new disciples to obey all the commands I have given you. And be sure of this: I am with you always, even to the end of the age.”
Matthew 28:18–20 (NLT)

By making disciples, we don’t just mean growing the membership of the church. A disciple is someone who firstly comes to know God in a personal way by faith in Jesus and repentance from their sin. This step begins a journey of spiritual growth, which continues throughout their whole life. In time, each disciple should find their gift and their sphere of service as a contribution to the body. At the end, we hope for everyone to hear the words of Jesus, “Well done, my good and faithful servant,” in affirmation of their lives of faith and obedience.
