Financial Giving

Redeemer Church practices the principle of tithing. It is our belief that the scriptures clearly teach a pattern of allocating a portion of our income (10%) at the beginning of each pay cycle as a contribution to the Lord. By doing this, we acknowledge that God is our ultimate source and the supplier of all our needs. We do it also as an act of worship, declaring to ourselves that we don’t idolise money and wealth, but we use our possessions to worship God.
Tithing is also a way of taking responsibility for the church community and making sure that we carry our load towards the work of ministry and outreach that Redeemer is involved in. As we receive our spiritual food and fellowship from this local family of believers, so also we give financially to provide for the financial needs of the family.
It is interesting to note that the scriptures describe financial giving as part of our discipleship – our following of Jesus. Just as much as faith, knowledge and love are evidence of our relationship with God, so is giving.
The church is audited every year by an audit firm in Port Louis. Our audited financial statements are approved at an AGM and then submitted to the Registrar of Associations as required by Mauritian law.
