The sufficiency of scripture is the doctrine that the bible contains everything necessary for salvation, faith, and Christian living. We often look for wisdom in other places – experience, culture, mentors, the advice of successful people. But we neglect to search the scriptures to find the wisdom that comes from God. The bible is comprehensive, authoritative, and sufficient to lead us in the ways and purposes of God. Christians will do well to turn to the scriptures first and to rely on their teaching as we walk our journey of faith.
