Prayer Week: Growing in the Practice of Prayer

Speaker:
Passage: Psalms 139:1-24

When we go to anyone with a request, we go to them in anticipation that they can help. If we need tax advice, we go to a tax consultant. If we need legal services, then we go to a lawyer. If we need instruction about something, then we go to someone who is an expert in that thing. We can talk about needing a student loan or a housing loan to many different people, but at the end of the day, we know we have to go to someone with money if we are going to get what we need. If we need a loan, we go to the bank. I want to talk this morning about the ways that God is able to meet our needs with the hope of encouraging us to bring all our requests to him. We are going to do it by looking at one of the psalms, which is like getting a glimpse into the psalmist’s prayer life. We will see how the psalmist thinks of God. By the end of the psalm, we hope to have greater confidence to bring our prayers and requests to God because he is the one who is able to meet our needs.
