When Jesus was born, an angel appeared to the shepherds, telling them a “Saviour has been born, He is the Messiah, the Lord”. A Saviour – someone that will rescue us from sins; a deliverer, a defender. The Messiah – the anointed one, a Redeemer that will purchase our freedom with his own flesh and blood. The Lord – a ruler, meaning all authority in heaven and on earth has been given to him.
