A God-Sized Vision
The disciples had a specific idea of Jesus’ mission, and it was big enough to attract them to him and his ministry. They had the idea that Jesus could be the Messiah – the political leader of Israel who would set her free from her Roman oppressors. They thought of Jesus as the saviour of Israel. But this was not what Jesus had in mind at all. The vision of Jesus was to be the Saviour of the world and to reach every people, nation, tribe and tongue with the opportunity to put their faith in him and enter a relationship with God as their Father. This is the mission he gave to the early church and is still the mission that we should seek to fulfil as the church in our generation.
